Operations Challenge is the “Wastewater Olympics” for professionals in the wastewater treatment industry. Teams of 4 members compete in 5 separate events: operations, maintenance, laboratory, safety, and collection systems, at a regional level to earn the right to represent CTWEA and New England Water Environment (NEWEA) at the national Water Environment Federation (WEF) competition held annually. Please watch the linked WEF videos for a better understanding of Operations Challenge and how it can benefit your Utility!
Participation in “Operations Challenge” is open to any person working in the wastewater industry that enjoys competition and wants to increase or diversify their training. Many operations challenge participants have obtained higher wastewater certifications and have had increased opportunities for advancement within their organizations. It’s also a fun, positive, and relevant way to earn continuing education units (CEUs).
CTWEA is always looking for operations challenge competitors and assistance with holding local fun non-competitive training workshops designed to build and practice the diverse skills required for the competition.
